Guest Room Ready with Lee Longlands

The festive season’s drawing nearer, and soon your tranquil style paradise will be inundated with family and friends. They’re a force of nature, that’s for sure, but we all still want the best for our loved ones – the best food, the best presents and, of course, the best night’s sleep.

The first two we’ll leave to you, but we can certainly help with the last one. Below, we’ve included our top tips for creating the perfect guest bedroom.

Colour scheme

Use on-trend colours to give the room a contemporary feel. Muted greens and olives create a mellow vibe, while dusty pinks offer a softer and more feminine touch.

Greys are not just fashionable but versatile, too, since they’ll go with just about any colour scheme. This frees you up to update the little things in this year’s colours, such as bed runners and throws, to freshen up the space. A great money-saver.

Bedframe or divan – which is best?

It really depends on the amount of room you have, your storage requirements and the look you want to create.

  • Divans have a smaller footprint, so they take up less room. They are available in many different fabrics and colours, too, so you can suit it to your colour scheme and give the room a softer feel. Ottoman divan beds and divan beds with drawers offer extra storage.
  • Bedframes are larger and are ideal for filling a smaller room. You can also choose a wood finish to match your existing furnishings – kit your entire bedroom out in one look with one of our bedroom ranges.

Vanity table

Nowhere is the vanity table more important than in the guest room. As the lord or lady of the house, you may not personally mind using the bathroom or hallway mirror in the morning, but your guests will want their own space to prepare for the day ahead. A dressing table, mirror and stool gives them a place to get ready in peace.

Create extra storage space

Give guests the gift of storage with a blanket box, wardrobe or chest of drawers.

  • We’re all different, and have our own unique optimal conditions for sleeping, from the firmness and height of our pillows to the weight and thickness of our duvet. Cater for everyone this Christmas by storing extra blankets and pillows in a handy blanket box.
  • Make your guests feel more at home with a small wardrobe or chest of drawers, so they aren’t living out of their suitcase while they’re with you!

Wing and tub chairs

A wing or tub chair accents the room beautifully and gives your guests a place to put a bag or jacket. Plush velvets, leathers or sunny geometric prints all make for an eye-catching addition to the room.

Bedside lamp

At the end of the night, there’s nothing better than relaxing with a good book. Your guests can read in style with one of our table lamps. A co-ordinating or patterned lamp shade adds a fashionable finishing touch.
