TV & Media Units

A TV unit holds the television and keeps the equipment and cables around it tidy. Our range includes low TV units and lowboards, corner TV units, highboards and media cabinets, from ercol, Habufa, Venjakob, Richmond Interiors, Alf Italia and more.

Start with the TV

TV sizes are measured diagonally, so the screen is narrower than the number suggests: a 55 inch TV is about 122cm wide and a 65 inch TV about 144cm. As a guide, choose a unit at least as wide as the TV. If the TV stands on feet, check that they fit on the top of the unit. Several units have the width in the name, such as the Habufa Avalon in 150cm, 160cm, 180cm and 200cm.

Get the height right

When you are sitting down, the middle of the screen should be roughly at eye level. A low unit suits a large TV or a low sofa. If the TV is fixed to the wall, the unit below can be as low or as long as you like.

Corner TV units

A corner unit uses space that is otherwise hard to furnish, and suits a room where the sofa faces the corner. We have corner TV units in several ranges, including Fairfax, Hemingford, Brenton, Harbour and ercol Windsor.

Equipment and cables

Count what needs a home: set-top box, games console, speakers and anything else. Open shelves let a remote control reach the equipment, but show more cables. Behind doors, it is out of sight. Some ercol units have an infrared (IR) cupboard, which lets the remote signal reach equipment behind closed doors. Leave space around anything that gets warm, and check the back of the unit for cable openings.

Finishes

Our TV units come in solid oak and oak veneer, painted finishes such as sage, stone grey and white, marble tops and high gloss. Some, including models from Habufa and Venjakob, have built-in LED lighting.

Matching storage

Size and finish are easier to judge when you can see a unit in a room. Lee Longlands has been furnishing homes since 1902, with seven showrooms in Birmingham, Bristol, Peterborough, Abingdon, Cheltenham Spa, Kidderminster and Leamington Spa.
