Sideboards

A sideboard gives you storage at a useful height, with a top for lamps, serving dishes or photographs. Our range runs from mini and small sideboards to wide and extra large ones, from ercol, Richmond Interiors, Stone International, Bontempi, Alf Italia, Venjakob and more.

Where will it go?

In a dining room, a sideboard keeps plates, glasses, cutlery and table linen close to the table. In a living room it can double as a TV unit or hold books and games. In a hallway, a narrow sideboard gives you somewhere to put keys and post.

Size and proportion

Measure the wall, then leave room for doors to open and for people to walk past. A long, low sideboard suits a wide wall or the space under a window. A taller sideboard, sometimes called a highboard, gives more storage on a smaller footprint. Check the depth too: dinner plates are usually around 27cm across, so make sure there is room for them inside.

Doors, drawers or both?

Drawers suit cutlery and table linen. Cupboards with shelves suit plates, bowls and glasses. Most sideboards combine the two. Look for details that make daily use easier: soft-close and push-close doors, dovetail-jointed drawers, adjustable shelves and, on some models, a wine rack or built-in lighting.

Finishes

Our sideboards include solid oak and oak veneer, reclaimed timber, marble and natural stone tops, high gloss, and Art Deco designs with metal detailing.

Matching pieces

Many sideboards belong to a wider range, so you can match a dining table, display cabinet or TV unit in the same finish. Fairfax, Brenton and Seville are examples, alongside ercol's Romana and Bosco ranges.

See them in person

Wood grain, stone and finish are easier to judge in person than on a screen.
