Why should you choose a fabric sofa?

Depending on your requirements, fabric sofas have several distinct advantages that make them more desirable than leather alternatives:

  • Fabric sofas are cheaper than leather sofas.
  • Fabrics regulate temperature better than leather.  This means that a fabric couch will be warmer when it’s cold and cooler when it’s warm.
  • They are highly versatile.  Since they come in plains fabrics as well as a plethora of patterns, they can be suited perfectly to your room.  Since many kinds of fabric are available, you can tailor your sofa to a specific feel as well as a specific look.

What different fabrics are available?

A selection of different fabrics are available to give your sofa the feel and look you want.

  • Velvet – exudes luxury and sophistication and is a highly tactile material.
  • Damask – is elegant with a timeless feel.
  • Tweed – provides plenty of warmth in colder months thanks to its mohair, wool and/or cashmere construction.
  • Patterns – offer additional styling options, brightening up a room and adding more colour.  Patterned fabrics work well for accent furniture, which can be co-ordinated with scatters on your other sofas.  Geometric patterns are on trend and easily found in contemporary sofa collections.
  • Plains – bold plain fabrics are great for making an impression.  For a simple, casual look or everyday use, a cream, brown or grey fabric sofa will work wonders.

Which size fabric sofa should you choose?

The size of your sofas and chairs depends on the size and shape of your living space.  You may also require additional space for items with extra functions, such as recliners and sofa beds.

Fabric sofas

We sell sofas in various shapes and sizes to suit a variety of living spaces and functions.

  • The 2 seater is uniquely versatile because of its smaller dimensions.  These sofas can be found in a fabric sofa set in the living room, but also work well for compact living as well as guest bedrooms, conservatories, playrooms and even studies.
  • A 3 seater is the standard centrepiece for a lounge, providing the bulk of the seating and naturally drawing the eye with its size.  3 seaters are not as versatile due to their size, but are popular for medium sized to large living rooms.
  • The 4 seater suits larger rooms and is a useful addition for entertaining guests or simply providing additional seating room.
  • If you have enough room for a corner sofa, it’s actually a good way to save space, since all of your seating is squeezed into one corner.
  • Sofa beds are a useful means of sleeping additional guests, being suitable for smaller spare rooms and providing an alternative to a guest room.

Fabric chairs

We supply chairs in a variety of styles to suit all tastes.  Our selection includes arm chairs, accent chairs and wing chairs.

  • An armchair seats one person and offers plenty of support.  Its arms provide leverage for standing and sitting down, making them especially useful for those who are less mobile.
  • An accent chair compliments the rest of a furniture range and may be presented in a patterned or complementing colour to the rest of your sofa range.
  • Wing chairs were traditionally designed to fend off the draft but are a classic and stylish way to introduce seating in a foyer or guest room.
  • Recliner chairs are the ideal place to relax and unwind.  They require a little bit of room behind to recline backwards, but are stylish and supportive.  A foldaway footrest conserves space.

Take care to measure your sofa or chair before purchasing.  Not only should your sofa suit the dimensions of the room, it also needs to be able to squeeze through doorways to reach your room of choice.  Allow a few additional centimetres to account for slight size deviations and any external packaging.
