What king of chair?
Recliners make up the largest part of the range, and Stressless is the brand you will see most. Many Stressless recliners come with a matching footstool. Armchairs and wing chairs are fixed, with no moving parts. They include designs from Parker Knoll and G Plan. For the dining table and the desk, we have leather dining chairs and Stressless office chairs. We also stock leather sofas.
Types of leather
Not all leather is finished in the same way, and the finish affects how it looks and wears. Aniline leather is dyed without a surface coating, so it is soft and shows the natural markings of the hide, but it marks more easily. Semi-aniline leather has a light protective finish. Pigmented leather, sometimes called protected leather, has a coloured coating that gives an even colour and stands up best to spills. For a chair that will see heavy use, children or pets, a protected leather is the practical choice. Some makers offer several leathers. Stressless, for example, lists Batick, Paloma, Cori, Noblesse and Pioneer. Check the product page to see what is available for each chair, and whether it is covered in leather or in eco leather, which is a man-made alternative.
Looking after leather
Dust the chair with a soft dry cloth and wipe up spills straight away. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, which can fade and dry the leather. For anything more than a wipe, follow the maker's care guide.
Check the fit
Sit right back in the chair. Your feet should rest flat on the floor and the backrest should support you where you need it. Several Stressless chairs are made in small, medium and large, so you can choose the size that fits you.
