Recliner Chairs: Page 2
A good recliner should suit the way you sit, the size of your room and how you like to relax. We stock recliner chairs from Stressless, G Plan, Himolla, Parker Knoll, ercol, in manual, power and swivel designs. The short guide will help you choose
Manual or Power Recliner
Manual recliners move with you. Many of our Stressless chairs use the Glide system: the chair adjusts as you lean back, using just body weight, with no levers or buttons. Because manual recliners don't need a plug socket, they can go anywhere in the room.
Power recliners use a motor to move the back and footrest at the touch of a button. They're a good choice if you want precise control over your position, or find leaning back to recline less comfortable. Most need to be near a plug socket, so it's worth checking where yours is before you choose.
Rise and recline chairs
If getting out of a chair has become harder, a rise and recline chair tilts forward to help you stand, as well as reclining back. We have a smaller selection of these, including models from Himolla.
Swivel recliners and footstools
Many Stressless recliners swivel a full 360 degrees and come with a matching footstool rather than a built-in footrest. Their Plus system is designed to support your neck and lower back when you're sitting up and when you're lying back.
Getting the size right
A recliner should fit you as well as your room. When you sit, your feet should rest flat on the floor and your back should reach the backrest comfortably. Many of our Stressless chairs are made in more than one size, so check the dimensions on each product page, and allow space around the chair for it to recline fully.
Our recliner brands
Stressless makes up the largest part of our recliner range, alongside G Plan, Himolla, Parker Knoll and ercol.
